On the first visit I will ask some general questions about your well-being, health concerns and medication, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed, which areas you would like specifically being worked on, and to determine which treatment is appropriate for you. This is required so I can adapt the session to your specific needs without doing any harm.

It is also important to list any allergies so I can be aware if a different oil or lotion may need to be used during the session.

Chair Massage and Reiki are performed fully clothed, for a Reflexology treatment the feet up to the knees are free of any clothing. A back massage requires a clothes free upper body. Women who are uncomfortable with taking their bra off can leave it on.

For a full body massage most people leave their underwear on; some people remove all of the clothes to get an optimal benefit from the session; however you should undress to the level that you are comfortable with, I can and will work around the clothes you left on.

Will I be covered during the massage?

Yes, the majority of your body will be covered with towels throughout the massage, except for the areas being worked on at any time. As a therapist I am very skilled with the 'sheets'!

Make yourself comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It's up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. In many instances, people may feel more relaxed starting off talking and as the massage progresses, enter quiet states of relaxation let your mind float free and enter a state of massage bliss.

Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

There are moments when you need to speak up. If I am doing anything to make you uncomfortable, you should let me know immediately. Also, let me know if you get too warm or too cold, or if you are not comfortable enough and also if the pressure needs to be changed (lighter or deeper). If something is not working for you - speak up! It's OK!

Will the massage hurt?

A light, relaxing massage that doesn't probe very deep into the muscles, shouldn't hurt. With that being said, there is a 'feels good' hurt and an 'ouch stop it' hurt. A firm massage, even a really deep tissue massage, should always stay in the 'feels good' hurt range.

Pain can be an indication that the muscle is too tight, knotted, possibly injured or inflamed and pressure will be adjusted. Also, pain can cause you to tighten up and negate the relaxing effects of the massage. The most effective and deepest massage always works with your body's natural response, not against it. If you do feel any discomfort then please don't stay quiet, let me know.

How often should I get a massage?

"Some is better than none." What does that mean? Well it varies from person to person. If you are just looking for some occasional relaxation, well-being, then a session evry 3 - 6 weeks may be fine for you.

However if you are looking to address a specific condition, then it is recommended to go more frequently at first and then slowly taper down to a maintenance schedule.

After the massage you should really be drinking plenty of water. Massage solves knots and it works your lymphatic system, which takes toxins from the body and pushes it out of you. Drinking water helps eliminating those toxins and will prevent you from feeling bad as the waste is moved out of your body.

Are the massage oils meant to nourish the skin long after the treatment or should they be removed? It's up to you really, there are benefits either way.

The therapeutic oils will have been chosen to condition your skin and aid relaxation with aromatherapy, so it’s great to leave them on if you can tolerate the sometimes slightly ‘slick’ feeling. If you can’t or you are worried about your clothes, then a warm shower following a massage could be counted as a bonus following treatment!<.
